Your music, throughout your home
Multi-room audio for Calgary homes — kitchen, great room, bedrooms, basement and patio, playing independently or together, built on the audio platform that suits the house.
What's involved
The right architecture first, then the right speakers
Whole-home audio is a system design question before it's a shopping question. Zone count, sound-quality expectations, budget, how you want to control it, and whether the equipment should live centrally in a rack or in each room all point toward different solutions. We work with URC HDA, Sonos, Russound, Monitor Audio, Episode and other professional products, and choose the combination that fits your home rather than the one we happen to stock.
- Zones for the rooms that need them — kitchen, great room, primary bedroom, basement, patio
- Play zones independently or group them together for the whole house
- Centralized amplification with URC HDA or Russound, or self-contained zones with Sonos
- In-ceiling, in-wall and architectural speakers from Monitor Audio, Episode and others
- Weather-rated outdoor speakers tuned to cover the yard, not the neighbourhood
- Volume, source and grouping available from keypads, apps and your URC interface
Whole-home audio — FAQs
Common questions about multi-room and distributed audio.
That depends on how many zones you want, the sound quality you're after, the budget, how you prefer to control it, and whether the system should be centralized in a rack or spread across the rooms. Those answers point to different architectures — which is why we don't lead with a single brand.
Centralized systems — URC HDA or Russound, for example — put the amplifiers in one rack and run speaker wire out to each room. Everything is in one place, easy to service, and clean at the room end. Decentralized systems like Sonos put a small powered device in or near each zone, which suits retrofits where running new wire is difficult. Both are good; they're good at different things.
Frequently, yes. If passive speakers are already installed and the wiring is sound, we can often drive them from a new amplifier and keep the ceilings intact. We'll test what's there before promising anything.
Yes. Audio is one of the systems URC Total Control brings together, so music can live alongside your TV, lighting and other activities rather than in a separate app you have to remember to open.
Yes — patios, decks and pool areas, with weather-rated speakers positioned and level-matched so the sound covers the space evenly instead of blasting one corner of the yard.
Streaming zones do, and it's the most common cause of audio that drops out or won't group properly. We look at the network as part of any audio project rather than treating it as a separate issue afterward.
It scales with the number of zones, the speakers and the architecture. A couple of zones and a full-home system are very different projects — we'll scope yours and price it clearly.
